Types of APPS/Applications

By // No comments:
Coming to mobiles we will hear often terms like native apps and web apps, or even hybrid apps.

Native Apps: The term "native app" is often mentioned in the context of mobile computing.
Native apps live on the device and are accessed through icons on the device home screen. Native apps are installed through an application store such as Google Play or Apple’s App Store

They are developed specifically for one platform and can take full advantage of all the device features. They can also incorporate gestures either standard operating-system gestures or new, app-defined gestures. And native apps can use the device’s notification system and can work offline.

Web Apps: A Web application (Web app) is an application program that is stored on a remote server and delivered over the Internet through a browser interface.
Web apps are not real applications. They are really websites that, in many ways, look and feel like native applications, but are not implemented as such. They are run by a browser and typically written in HTML5.

Hybrid apps: Hybrid apps are part native apps, part of web apps.
Because of that, many people incorrectly call them “web apps”. Like native apps, they live in an app store and can take advantage of the many device features available. A web-to-native abstraction layer enables access to devise capabilities that are not accessible in Mobile Web applications, such as the Accelerometer, camera and local storage.

Types of Application Software:

Word Processing Software: Allows users to create, edit a document. Example: MS Word, Word Pad etc.

Shareware: May be free of charge or the software company may charge a nominal fee. Users can download these kinds of software from the Internet. Example: Real Player full version, MP3 player full version, different games downloaded from he Internet.

Freeware: Software that are given away for free by the vendor/producer. Example: Real Player trial version, MP3 Player trial version etc.

Installed Software: Software you buy from market or download from the Internet to your computer. The software is physically installed in your computer and runs from your Hard Drive. Usually these kinds of software are wrapped inside a CD case when you buy it from market. Example: MS Office, Games etc.

The History of App Pricing And Why Most Of The Apps Are Free

The History of App Pricing And Why Most Of The Apps Are Free:

In this post i am exploring revealed preference for free content over content free of ads by examining four years worth of pricing information for the nearly 350,000 apps.

Many consumer surveys point to an important point that most people hate seeing ads on smartphones and tablets.
But the actual truth is contrary to the desire for an ad-free experience, when faced with the choice between free apps with ads.
In many cases, apps are available in two types:
Free (with ads) and Paid (with no ads).
Even when a specific app does not come in paid and free versions, there are often other apps to choose from, free and paid, that perform very similar tasks like calling a taxi or looking up recipes.

But Flurry says purchase habits show that user demand is higher for apps that will cost them nothing, even if there are ads as a result.

Since 2010, when free apps accounted for 84 percent of those Flurry tracked, the percent of apps charging nothing and using ads to drive revenue instead dropped briefly to 80 percent.
As of April this year, 90 percent of all apps are free and ad-supported. As a result, the average price of an app continues to drop.

What is an APP?

By // No comments:
I am writing this post mainly about an APP.
Because Nowadays apps are playing an important role in every bodies life.

Definition: Apps is an abbreviation for application.
It is a piece of software.
It can run on your computer, on the Internet, on your phone or other electronic devices.
An application is a software program that's designed to perform a specific function directly for the user or for another application program.

Known As: Applications, software, and programs......

Apps are basically little, self-contained programs, used to enhance existing functionality, hopefully in a simple more user-friendly way.

"It is a self-contained program or piece of software designed to fulfill a particular purpose.
An application, especially as downloaded by a user to a mobile device."

We may have heard people talking about using an application or an app.
But what is exactly means of it?
An app is a type of software that allows you to perform specific tasks. Applications for desktop or laptop computers are sometimes called desktop applications, and those for mobile devices are called mobile apps.
When you open an application automatically it runs inside the operating system until you close it. Most of the time we will have more than one application open at the same time and this is known as multitasking.
